The Arkansas Gaming Group is the new home of the now year old PBeM (Play by E-Mail) Roleplaying campaign "Morrigan's School of Magic". This campaign is not a "game" per se, but actually an outlet to people who enjoy writing and contributing to a giant fantasy world. Here is the intro text:
The world surrounding Morrigan's School of Magic is a vibrant one, full
of magic and spectacular sights. To Harry Potter fans, Morrigan's
School of Magic is set in the Harry Potter universe about 10 years
after the end of the book series. To this end, Voldemort is dead and
Harry himself has moved on to become a powerful Auror. Morrigan's
castle is located directly on Loch Ness in Scotland and protected by
magical enchantments that divert non-magic users and the like away from
it's location.

Students travel to the school each year via train from the Waverly
train station in Edinburgh, platform 13. The school cannot be reached
via any other known method other than the train for the protection of
the students. Rumor has it that the headmaster alone possesses the
ability to enter the school of his own accord.

A new persistant campaign has been added to the Forums and is being moderated by Thanel. This is his own personal campaign and he says what goes for his players. Official Blurb below:
Some years ago, you and your friends
were war orphans. Left in the most dismal of orphanages in the gloomy city of
Sux'teel K'shon, you were fed poorly and were treated the same. Surviving only
due to joining Garamond's ring of urchin thieves, even that was taken away after
your orphanage was destroyed by feuding warlords.
Had it
not been for the kindly intervention and patience of your mentor Engathe the
Alchemist, you'd most likely be in jail or dead now. He put your feet on another
path, saw to it that you were trained and educated and showed you enough of the
world to change the course of your lives forever. Now, each of you is somebody.
A hero to be proud of. You all owe your lives to Engathe for showing you what
you could be.
Now,
Engathe the Wise is missing and what is left of the once proud and intrepid
Glorious Orphaned Vagabond
Company is being called
to find him. Who will answer the call?

Worldwide D&D Game Day was quite entertaining. I thank all those from the AGG who showed up and helped to make our presence known at the event! And to those of you whom I spoke with at length about joining us in gaming opportunities in the state of Arkansas, welcome to the Arkansas Gaming Group!
There were mixed emotions regarding 4th edition that were shared by players and DMs alike. Coming from the perspective of a DM, the 4th edition game runs a whole lot smoother and, with practice, will likely be playable even without books on hand at the game table. Conversely, from a player standpoint, players shared that they felt a large amount more constrained in what they could do in combat situations. Feelings of having hands tied were common among a large number of players.
Anyway, overall the event went very well. I wish to thank David at The Game Room for providing us a great venue for the event, and for feeding the DM's hungry faces during the event. David also provided some awesome prizes to the winners of two big contests, Dungeon Feud was won by the team of "Jolly Rodgers", while the prizes for the 5v5 free for all PvP contest went to the team of, yep, "Jolly Ranchers".
Let's all look forward to next year's event and try to have a great time playing games here in the AGG!
